The PM Kusum yojana launch date is March 2019, when it was announced by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The scheme has since been extended and remains open through March 2026, with individual states running their own application cycles within that window.

There is no standard price list. Cost depends on capacity, terrain, distance to the nearest sub-station and the applicable state benchmark. A 500 kW project and a 2 MW project are economically quite different, and location matters as much as size. Roughly four to five acres per MW, so a 500 kW plant needs about two to two and a half acres. The land should be contiguous, reasonably level and — most importantly — within workable distance of a 33/11 kV sub-station with available capacity. Proximity to the grid often matters more than the size of the plot.

Registration happens with your state nodal agency — HAREDA, RRECL, UPNEDA, MEDA, KREDL, TGREDCO, CREDA or OREDA depending on where your land is. You will need Aadhaar, land records, bank details and sub-station information. Windows open periodically and are capacity-capped. Rayax completes the registration with you and tracks it through to letter of award.

Individual farmers, groups of farmers, panchayats, cooperative societies, water user associations and Farmer Producer Organisations are all eligible. You need clear title to the land or a secure registered long-term lease, valid Aadhaar, land records for the plot and an active bank account.

No. Ownership stays with you throughout. You can invest in the plant yourself, co-develop it with Rayax, or lease the land for the project term and collect annual rent. In every case the title remains in your name, and at the end of the term the land returns to unrestricted use.
